"Solitaire" Vessel joined the Nord Stream construction

The ‘Solitaire’ pipelay vessel arrived to the area of the Nord Stream pipeline construction. In coming weeks the vessel, world’s largest in its class, will lay more than 340 km of pipes in the Finnish Exclusive Economic Zone.

The 300-m-long giant will maintain its working position not with the help of an anchor but due to the thrusters based in the foreship. This makes her usage especially efficient in terms of the heavy traffic on Baltic Sea.

First natural gas supplies by Nord Stream are scheduled on 2011.
