LNG exports from Sakhalin double in 2010

In 2010 liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from Sakhalin doubled on year-on-year basis. According to Sakhalin Customs, it endorsed 234 ships with hydrocarbons for export in 2010 − more than 6 million tones of oil and nearly 10 million tones of LNG were exported.

These supplies were mostly directed to Japan, South Korea, China and USA.

After reaching its full capacity Sakhalin-2 project will ensure around 5 per cent of the global LNG production, making it possible for Russia to offer Asia-Pacific countries a new high-tech product which is transported to these countries easily and rapidly.
